Glucosamine Sulphate may help to maintain joint mobility. Glucosamine is essential for maintaining cartilage, the smooth tissue lining of joints.
Glucosamine is formed from a reaction of glucose with the amino acid glutamine. Much of the Glucosamine used in the body is associated with sulphur in the form of sulphate. Glucosamine Sulphate therefore bears a strong resemblance to closely related materials naturally occurring in the body.
Excess wear and tear on a joint creates the need for repair. If the body chemistry is out of balance, it may mean that the body cannot make enough glucosamine. Glucosamine Sulphate helps to form a component of cartilage called Proteoglycan, a tough, resilient, structural material that acts like a cushion at the bone ends. If we do not form enough proteoglycan, the cartilage erodes more easily.
