A scentless flower garbed in dark colours. In nature, this botanical rarity develops downy petals in a dark, nearly black shade of red. In the imagination of Riccardo Tisci, Creative Director of Givenchy since 2005, this naturally scentless blossom becomes ink black, onyx black, recalling black velvet or black chiffon.
The first fragrance developed under the creative direction of Riccardo Tisci, Dahlia Noir embodies a mysterious and atypical woman. There is nothing antithetical in this tension between light and shadow, between danger and delicacy, the sacred and the profane. Here it takes on a mesmerising olfactory identity, intense and powdery, floral and woody. Dahlia Noir fans the flames of desire...
Like Riccardo Tisci’s Couture creations, Dahlia Noir resonates with a fragile strength, a confluence of opposing forces, to better express the tough softness of the woman who wears it.
A Couture fragrance all in pure lines, a neo-classic whose extreme sensuality arises from a surprising twist of the imagination, a return to supreme luxury. The quintessence of the Givenchy style.
Givenchy Dahlia Noir Eau De Parfum:
Expressing the power of a fragile woman, the enticing softness of the Dahlia Noir woman, inspired by an imaginary flower that is a scentless fantasy...
François Demachy, composer of olfactory creations, delved into Riccardo Tisci’s imagination, and his family history as well, to achieve this fantasised fragrance. Its powdery notes evoke maternal gentleness and a traditional vision of femininity, generous and protective, conveying a sentimental quality.
Avoiding any trace of nostalgia, this floral chypre fragrance is based on rose, iris and mimosa, enriched with utterly contemporary woody facets. As in Couture, like an olfactory interfacing, sandalwood and patchouli lend a woody depth to the caressing volatility of the powdery weft, blended with tonka bean.
The presence of sandalwood, a sacred substance used in offerings and rituals, propels this olfactory opus into a mystical dimension, imparting a balm-like effect, a fleshy density, an enveloping warmth. Dahlia Noir calls out to be touched, to become one with the skin.
Far from evoking an extinguished fire, its delicately ashen notes underpin the emotional tension of an intriguing ritual presided by the woman who wears Dahlia Noir.
