Alfred Vogel knew and wrote of the benefits of this popular herb, Sage (Salvia), whose leaves display beads of liquid in hot weather. This strongly scented herb is particularly popular with women.
Sage is believed to rebalance the sweat-regulating mechanism in the brain which can be thrown out of balance by hormonal changes taking place during the menopause.
Excessive sweating in women or men (eg. palms, feet) may also be corrected by Sage.
In addition, Sage has a separate role in preventing sweating. The combination of these two actions makes Sage an excellent preparation to help with the hot flushes which often accompany the decline in hormonal levels at the time of the menopause.
Sage has also been found to possess antibacterial properties and can be very beneficial for sore throats when used as a gargle.
