Are you loving London Fashion Week as much as we are? The black fuelled, gothic themes from last season have completely transformed into delicate pastels. Bold lips splashed with bright colours have lightened up into more natural hues with soft lines. Hair is inspired and divine with an ethereal edge. We say it’s heaven-sent as the key looks are so simple you can easily achieve them at home, and here’s how….
TIGI’s Creative Team reponsible for the catwalk looks reveal how to create them for yourself AND the exact products that were used backstage …talk about insider knowledge!

HAIR BY: Nick Irwin and the TIGI Creative team
INSPIRATION: Angelic, straight, long lengths and NO volume. New straight glamour.
“I wanted this look to be the opposite of last season’s hair we did with Nick and the team. As it’s for Spring/Summer, I wanted the hair to be a lot lighter and about innocence. A slight Scandinavian influence with the hair being all about long, sleek length and not volume.” – Kristian Aadnevik
“To start, I prepped the hair with Catwalk by TIGI Sleek Mystique Haute Iron Spray. I sectioned the hair and using hot irons, I straightened through to ensure the lengths were completely sleek and straight. I only used a minimal amount of the Iron Spray because I did not want to put too much oil into the hair pre-weft. All of the models had wefts put into their hair to create the length that was required to make all of the girls look uniform.
I then sectioned the hair at the back, near to the nape of the neck and measured the weft to the section and cut it. The synthetic glue is then added to the top of the weft. It is important to wait a few seconds until the glue is tacky. I then added the weft to the section and dried it into place with a cold hairdryer for a few seconds. To create the desired effect, I then left one inch gaps between each section making way up to the top of the head; repeating weft placement. Once we had reach the crown we then repeated the weft to the side of the head, above the ear.
Once all the wefts were in, I brushed them lightly and run hot irons through again, creating a real thinness and sleekness to the hair.
The look is finished by spraying Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Finishing Hairspray. Although this hair looks quite simple, it’s quite a harsh style that is perfect for the slightly more rounder/oval face.” – Nick Irwin
Mark
Fast
HAIR BY: Jeame Pecis and the TIGI Creative Team
INSPIRATION: 1920′s woman travelling through the dessert.
“The palette originates from sand tones in a dessert landscape, then moves into gold fringing. We wanted to create movement over the body to emulate the force of a sand storm, the hair needed to flow with this.” – Mark Fast
“In all of Mark’s illustrations the hair goes over one side of the face and we thought it would be fun to bring this to the hair at the show this season. We wanted to create a 1920′s style bob with a flat marcel wave but to keep it modern with a loose texture.
Products and backcombing are keys to this look. First, I saturated the hair with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray, then backcombed around the hairline really tightly to the head, to make a cushion for hairpins to grip.
Next, I wound the hair in figure eights around wire rods, gave it an extra spritz of hairspray and set it with a flat iron, this puts a flat wave in the hair. I then used finger to soften and break up the shape when the wire was removed. Rubber banding ends of hair, I rolled the end underneath and secured with pins. I finished with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Finishing Hairspray and pulled a few pieces loose, playing with the hair slightly to make it more distressed.” – James Pecis
Christopher
Kane
HAIR BY: Anthony Turner and the TIGI Creative Team
INSPIRATION: Innocent, naive and childlike.
“There’s no reference really for this collection but I did randomly come across some photographs of girls in grim council-estate bedrooms, the paper peeling off the walls behind them, their stickers and scrapbooks nearby – this is what inspired me. We wanted the hair to be really soft and tender with a strange twist. Just really organic, like the girl had done it herself.” – Christopher Kane
“There’s so much detail in the clothes so we wanted the hair to compliment this and flow with the collection – the hair had to be up. The hair makes the girls look very naive and pure – quite child like.
First the hair was prepped with Catwalk by TIGI Your Highness Root Boost Spray and rough dried, then the hair was sectioned into a low side parting, combed with fingers rather than a brush so it looked more home made, The hair was then just pulled back into a low pony tail at the nape of the neck and secured into a chignon with pins.
The look is really simple and not too considered – we wanted the girls to look like they had done it themselves. The hair was spritzed with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray to hold in place then just before they were going out on the runway, I pulled the front section forward so it looked like a webby veil across the forehead and set with hairspray. It’s really feminine but a bit peculiar, it’s quite Virginia Woolf. It’s meant to have imperfections – quite fantasy like, the parting is the only structure in the look.” – Anthony Turner
