find the perfect lip colour for you.
We’ve always known it and now it’s official - nude is the bestselling lipstick shade, outselling brights for the first time in over three years. Finding your perfect shade isn’t easy however, so here’s our guide to picking the perfect nude for you…
‘Fair complexions look pretty in rosy, pink nudes, while peachy nudes are gorgeous on warmer complexions. Golden skin tones flourish in beige nudes and dark skins are enhanced with rich, browner nudes.’
And bear in mind your hair colour too...
'Ashy blonde? Then go for the cooler pink nudes. Honey blonde? Try the peachy nudes. Brunette? Beige or browner nude.'
When trying different shades, test them on the pad of your index finger not the back of your hand – the colour there is a closer match to the colour of your lips.
'For beige/nude lipsticks use a little foundation over the lips to soften their natural pink tone. This helps create a 'blank canvas' for you to get the best out of the beige in your lipstick.'
Caramel and brown nudes can really ‘flatten’ the features on your face so opt for pinky, peachy toned nudes instead. They don’t look so appealing in the bullet but they look much more flattering on.
Keep it straight forward and simple with gloss, satin or matte finishes – do avoid chalky, shimmery and frosted textures and definitely NO glitter.
'A nude lip means that you can go strong in other areas; like wearing a smoky eye with lashings of mascara.'
'Also it’s good to add some contour to the cheeks with some golden tones. I love this kit from Benefit is has everything in one.'
