With the most romantic day of the year just around the corner it’s time to get your action plan ready to
impress your Valentine.
Georgina Hardiman shows you how
First impressions count so make sure you have that gorgeous, super glowing skin when you’re looking to impress. Try mixing a small amount of Benefit’s High Beam
or any glitter free highlighter, with either your moisturiser, foundation or BB cream to immediately give skin that gorgeous, dewy glow. Finish by highlighting cheeks with just a ‘pop’ of blusher at the top of the cheek bones.
If you just do one thing to up the ante on Valentine’s Day, it’s got to be the ‘feline flick’. A signature look of world famous make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury (and as seen on the likes of Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and Kristen Stewart it’s the perfect way to have them hypnotized in no time. The key to creating that perfect fierce flick is to make sure you accentuate the almond shape of the eye. Perfect the upward flick by following the lash line of the lower eye in a curve upwards, towards the brow bone. For the top lid – make sure you take the liner right down, about 2mm past the inner corner of your eye to meet the crease in the skin just before the lash line starts.
Sexy velvet, matte textures are big news right now – lips have become a gloss-free zone. This means you can still wear that classically romantic red lip without the worry he’s going to hate it – think sexy, not messy. Pull out all the stops with an eye catching red like Rouge Dior in Blazing Red
but if you’re worried it looks too much remember you can always dull the colour down by patting the tip of your finger over your lips.If red isn’t for you then keep it simple with a nude lip, especially if you’re going for a stronger eye.
Nothing shouts glamour more than big hair. Minimal effort needs to be made in this department for maximum effect. Nicola Clarke, creative colour director at John Frieda, recommends a trusty dry shampoo for a quick solution to instant volume and root lift, ‘Always work the dry shampoo through your hair section by section but avoid directly spraying on the roots & parting, make sure you work from the top but ease off at the underneath and the back – concentrating on the top sections will give you the best results!’
For those with an empty space in the diary on Valentine’s Day, instead of putting on a chick flick and reaching for that warm bottle of Chardonnay, why not treat yourself, or invite all your girlfriends over for a well-deserved pamper night.
